Self Reliant Diver
- Duration: 2 Days (approx.)
- Location: Glenelg North, SA
- Product code: Solodiver
With proper training, equipment and the right attitude to accept the risks involved in independent diving, an experience diver can responsibly engage in dives without a buddy. Self-reliant diving is an adventure activity that is not for everyone, but does have its place. If you have the mental discipline and commitment to learn and follow self-reliant diving techniques, you'll bolster your skills and confidence when diving alone, in a dive pair or as part of a team.
This is a highly specialized course, and is very demanding of skill level. You must be an Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) who is at least 18 years old and have 100 logged dives to enroll in the Self-Reliant Diver course. Proof of both is mandatory for this course. You'll also complete a skills assessment with your Instructor before diving into the course.
Students must own a backup scuba mask, personal dive computer, DSMB with reel, compass, knife/cutting tool, and slate with pencil. It is highly recommended students also own their own scuba kit, including BCD, regulators, wetsuit, and fins. Redundant gas supplies are provided with the course.
The course runs over two days, one day of knowledge development and skills assessment, and another day on the dive boat for ocean dives.
