Ex-HMAS HOBART Double Dive (AOW)

Dive the 'Green Ghost'! H.M.A.S. Hobart was scuttled in Yankalilla Bay to form an artificial dive reef, and its final resting place lies 4 nautical miles west north west of Marina St Vincent. The Hobart was nicknamed the 'Green Ghost' for her reputation as a quiet vessel during three tours of duty of Vietnam. The Hobart was the most decorated naval vessel of her era. A land based memorial has been established at Lady Bay where the anchor from the ship lies pointing in the direction of the wreck.

This amazing 134m, 4500 ton shipwreck lies in 30m of water and rises from the seafloor to approximately 5m below the surface, and is now completely covered in beautiful marine life. The conditions of this dive require an Advanced Open Water certification, as it is not suitable for beginners.

Boats depart from the lovely Wirrina Cove fuel jetty, please be ready with all your gear ready to load onto the boat at the tour start time. Late arrivals cannot be accomodated.

Please be advised that for this tour any rental gear must be picked up from the shop prior to the tour starting, please arrange with the shop an appropriate time to pick up any rental equipment. This includes cylinders.

To dive the Ex-HMAS HOBART we require all divers to have logged a dive within the past 3 months, please make sure you arrive with a logbook or evidence of your last logged dive.

A Double dive is usually a full day, we recommend bringing some snacks or a light lunch on the boat.
